And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
The Spirit is said to have a sword – the word of God!
Alexander Campbell – The Man in the Forest

Matthew 10:20 Psalm 119:105 John 6:63
Parallel Verses

Alexander Campbell’s 11thArgument
Resisting the Word of God is the same as resisting the Holy Spirit.
Acts 7:51-52“Youstiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathersdid,sodoyou.52Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute?
4.Why is Balaam important in this study?
Balaam had been hired to speak evil of God, but was unable to! The Spirit of God would not allow him that option!
The direct power of the Holy Spirit cannot be resisted by man!By contrast, the influence of the Spirit’swordcan be resisted and ignored. This is why some are not converted! This is why some Christians are not spiritual!
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scriptureisgiven by inspiration of God, andisprofitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
This passage would be meaningless if the Spirit works directly and controls a person!
The scribes had claimed that Jesus was casting out demons by the power of Satan!
5.What is the unpardonable sin?
Mark 3:22,28-30
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;29but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”—30because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
The unpardonable sin
The specific sin committed involved calling the Holy Spirit an unclean spirit. This is highly unlikely to happen today, and may not even be possible in this dispensation of time.Christians are more likely to commit other sins against the Spirit.
Other Sins against the Spirit
Profane the Spirit (Exodus 20:7)Quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19)Lie to the Spirit (Acts 5:3)Insulted the Spirit (Hebrews 10:29)Resist the Spirit (Acts 7:51)Defile the temple of man (1 Corinthians 3:16)Grieve the Spirit (Ephesians 4:30)

Conclusion
“The question is notIFthe Spirit is active, butHOWdoes He accomplish His work?”Give attention to reading (1 Timothy 4:13)Do what the word instructs (James 1:22)
James 1:22-24
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;24for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
